How To Set Up HNT In Your City
After 28 years of running this non-profit, treating over 60,000 patients in need, I can honestly tell you it is one of the most enjoyable, fulfilling aspects of my career.
Several options you can do to help out:
First, please look at this website for ideas.
Second, consider setting up on your dental webpage, a new page that speaks to what your office is willing to do to help out in the community - not only will this be great PR for your practice, but it will be a resource page for the poor that are looking for solutions. As you can see on this page, we list the local hotlines, shelters and meal services.
I get calls often from local students who want to volunteer or shadow me in my practice, I often assign the looking up of this information to them and have it updated every 6 months - so if that is available to you as well, it would be minimal effort with a nominal fee to your web designer to add the page.Third, reach out to your local labs that you already due, tell them what you are doing and ask them do donate a flipper or partial every mouth to the underserved population that you will be working on for free - this way your out of pocket cost is limited to your time.
Fourth, you want your patients, and the neighborhood you practice in to know what you are doing. Get a local news agency to write up your project and get traction behind it - this will get other volunteer dentists, assistants and possibly donations around your philanthropy.
And finally, you can reach out to your colleagues and get a group together so that you can spread out the need for care and treatment - I have over 1000 volunteer dentists in the LA area which allows us to make a bigger impact than if I do the work myself.I am available anytime to work out logistics, feel free to use me as a resource to that we can replicate HNT in your area, and thank you once again for making a difference.
